On Thursday, March 15th, Project Feed the Hood and Las Madres Naturalezas met at the Edward Gonzales Elementary School to plan and prepare the garden space for the upcoming season. We learned about the importance of proper microbial activity for healthy soil, toured the new greenhouse, and had fun stomping rows in the garden. Some of the crops we’re planning are corn, chile, sandias, beans, and maybe even some strawberries. We also prepared a space to plant lots of beautiful flowers.

Everyone discussing the plans.

Getting a tour of the greenhouse.

One, two, one, two, one, two!

Three generations.

Almost ready for planting!

Please join us next time at Edward Gonzales Elementary School for our Food Policy Group Meeting this Monday, 3/20 at 5:30 p.m. We’ll be furthering our discussions on the importance of food justice and develop a powermap for policy initiatives.
